ONLY PHOTOGRAPHY CAN CAPTURE A

LIFETIME OF MEMORIES

Most things lose value with time, whereas photography becomes more valuable with time!

"Working with Ian was the best decision we made for our wedding"

Working with Ian was the best decision we made for our wedding. We were anxious about the photography part, mainly because we are not very comfortable in front of the camera. Ian’s friendly and professional attitude made us feel at ease, and he got the most beautiful, natural photos of us and our guests. Not only did he capture the big moments, but the little ones too, which truly showcased the joy and love of our day. Ian delivered beyond our expectations, and we are so grateful for his amazing work!

"A talent and you need to book him!"

Ian is very talented and clearly knows what he is doing! We were worried about looking too posed, but the photos Ian took of us were so authentic and beautiful. Ian was friendly, professional, and captured everything without making us feel awkward. Highly recommend! He is a talent and you need to book him!

"I couldn't be happier with the results!"

I recently had the pleasure of working with Ian, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. The photos are stunning, capturing every detail and emotion beautifully. Ian was professional, creative, and made the entire experience enjoyable.

"Ian went above and beyond"

On a very wet and windy day Ian went above and beyond to find some great locations local to us and to capture some wonderful moments in a pre-ceremony couple shoot with us and dog. The added hot cuppa also helped warm us up after!

He also hung around after the ceremony to capture some glorious golden hour moments too.

Thank you Ian!

"His professionalism is was outstanding"

We couldn’t be happier with our decision to hire Ian as our wedding photographer. We were nervous about finding someone who could capture our day authentically, but Ian exceeded every expectation. From the initial consultation to the final delivery of photos, his professionalism was outstanding. The candid shots were breathtaking, and he made us feel comfortable in front of the camera. Our friends and family keep raving about how stunning our wedding photos are. If you’re looking for a photographer who truly understands the importance of your big day, Ian is your guy!

"Great with his communication!"

Ian was professional and captured our wedding so beautifully!
He took the time to have a meeting with myself and my husband prior to our wedding to ensure he knew exactly what we wanted. He has exceptional time keeping and great with his communication!

I would highly recommend Ian Kugler Photography for any occasion!

"Ian has an amazing eye"

Ian has an amazing eye for detail and is easy to work with. He has a very personable demeanour, which put us at ease instantly, and he offers well-considered suggestions for each shot.

The photograph quality was superb and a testament to him being talented at his craft. We were also very pleased with the diversity of shots he was able to provide alongside our standard requests.

We are so glad to have chosen him as he managed to capture the most meaningful moments of our lives. I couldn’t recommend him highly enough!

QUESTIONS?

01.

BEFORE THE BIG DAY

Why do you only take 20 bookings a year?

Great question!

It is a conscious decision to take on no more than around 20 weddings a year for a number of reasons, which I will briefly example.

1. To uphold my commitment to high quality service.

I could do what most photographers do and have no cap on how much work I take on, however a core value for me is to ensure high standards! And I am not willing to compromise this for more income!

2. To guarantee turnaround times and consistent levels of support.

I like to buck an unhealthy trend in the industry and deliver images when I say I will and if possible, ahead of time. Radical as that sounds, it isn’t the norm as you may have been told. So I limit my workload to ensure standards are kept. Equally, for a professional there is hours of preparation which goes into each and every single wedding.

3. To ensure I maintain the love of photography.

Just like you, I work to provide an income for myself and loved ones, and I am fortunate enough to love what I do! I love nothing more than to have a camera at my fingertips and being creative! But as with anything in life, if I take on too much, I will quickly stop loving it and lose the buzz I bring to every single job I take on. I never want that! I want to keep on delivering my very best and to do so, I limit my workload.

How soon do we need to book you?

As I only take a maximum of 20 clients on per year, my diary tends to get fully booked very quickly. It makes me so sad when couples fall in love with my work, only to find out I’m already booked for their date. As soon as you have a venue and a date, please get in touch to check my availability! I also do accept last minute spontaneous requests when I have available slots in my calendar.  If you are eloping don’t hesitate to get in touch too as I do love when the adventure!

Can we meet you before we book?

Unfortunately, due to the volume of enquiries I receive, I’m only able to do detailed consultations with couples who book me. Once you’ve had your initial 30mins consultation and booked me, I’ll be more than happy to Zoom call/ meet in London or Surrey area to discuss your big day over coffee or a glass of wine.

where are you based? do you travel?

Of course! I absolutely love to travel and explore the world beyond! I am based in London (England) but travel globally to capture weddings and special moments with my cameras. I have a valid passport and love travelling to exciting destinations. If you’re getting married abroad, get in touch for a personalised quote.

As a general rule for UK weddings, for events over 2 hours/ 100 miles away, I charge a set fee to cover hotel accommodation and additional transport costs. I try eliminate risks where possible, and traffic/ transport often is a huge one. So when I have to travel several hours to and from a wedding, I find it best to stay nearby the night before to avoid delays on the morning of the wedding, and to stop me falling asleep on the way home.  For a photographer, wedding days can be extremely long!

we are interested in a pre-wedding shoot/ engagement shoot?

Excellent! I love capturing these and take on a select few during the year. They’re always a great opportunity for us to get to know each other before the wedding so you’re comfortable with me when the big day comes. If you also require a hair and makeup artist and videographer too, I can suggest some fantastic suppliers.

My wedding budget is x amount, do you offer discounts?

No, I don’t offer discounts on my packages. From time to time I may pass on amazing deals on albums and frames via my newsletter, which you can sign up (ADD LINK) to for tips, advice and exclusive offers.

Remember the cake will be eaten, your flowers will fade but it’s the photographs that you will be sharing in years to come. They are part of your legacy.

Do you offer videography?

I strongly believe in becoming an expert in your craft, and this only comes from undistracted commitment and focus over time to one thing! Photography!

There is often a lot of truth in the saying, “jack of all trades, master of none”. I believe that you deserve the best, so sorry, but that’s not for me!

I do however frequently work with and know some exceptionally talented videographers in the industry and would 100% recommend them to you! They are equally incredible and with many awards and accolades to their name. They are on our level!

My qualified videographer network will leaves you in tears of joy at what they produce from your special day! Trust me! I struggle to hold back the tears myself!

Get in touch and I can support you with recommendations!

What equipment do you use?

From day one, I have invested heavily in my business, and in you, my clients! I primarily shoot on 2 Canon 5D iv’s and various lenses which allow me to deliver my unique style and look.

From time to time I add new additional camera to my kitbag to offer different options or to challenge myself as a creative, the latest being the Leica Q3, which I was loaned and the DJI Mavic 3 Pro.

Additionally, I use state of the art SSD hard drives to back-up all my work and secure your images, as well as using lighting kit and stands from companies such as the world renowned Manfrotto.

Are you insured?

Absolutely, as all professional photographers should be! Public liability insurance and comprehensive equipment insurance, as standard.

How does payment work?

To secure your wedding date a non-refundable booking fee of £500 is required and the remaining balance 28 days before your wedding.

02.

ON THE BIG DAY

I feel anxious in front of a camera, how do I overcome this?

That’s a question I get asked often, and I totally get it! I used to feel the same, and sometimes still do! Often being the centre of attention can be scary and uncomfortable. A lot of the fear comes from the unfamiliarity of the situation and from how you view yourself. It’s more about psychology, than it is a bad photo of you.

We all have insecurities and things we are very aware of about ourselves, that we think everyone else can see. But honestly, rarely anyone else sees these or cares. They see a wonderful, beautiful, and special person – in love with their partner. That is what I see too! 🙂

For couples less comfortable in front of the lens, I frequently suggest adding my Engagement Shoot option. These are perfect, as they allow us to work on your confidence in front of the camera and allow for a trial run, ahead of your wedding day!

Have you worked at our venue before?

It is possible, but unlikely, simply because there are just SO MANY venues out there. Not to mention ones which frequently get remodelled or change ownership every other year. Besides, chances are you are asking this question as the venue or another supplier is trying to influence you to book with their favourite. And it is highly likely they will earn commission on that recommendation!

Honestly, previously working at a venue isn’t even that important, it can actually be a negative. As photographers who frequently only work at a set venue get sloppy or lazy, shooting again and again the same backdrops, the same shots, the same situations. You just are the next in the conveyor belt, and all of the spontaneity and creativity is gone! I don’t work like that!

I love to discover new venues and work with my couples to find interesting shoot locations to make work. A professional photographer only needs a camera, a subject and a light source to make a photo look great! Trust me, it’s not that important to have worked at a venue before!

can we have a second shooter?

Of course, if you would like additional coverage (e.g. to capture the groom’s prep or if you have a larger wedding), an experienced second shooter is £400 for the day and all of these photos I will edit in my signature style.

I always recommend considering a second shooter as it allow for one photographer to be with the Bride and one with the Groom, during the morning prep. Equally, post ceremony, one photographer can follow the newly wed couple around, whilst the other focuses on taking location and guests images. It is always a good added extra to consider!

do i have to feed you?

Yes please! Weddings are very long days for us photographers. If I were to leave your wedding in search of food, I could be gone for up to an hour and might miss something. (Top tip!- A fed photographer is a happy photographer!)

Can we give you a shot list?

100% you can! I actually ask you for one as part of my research and preparation, leading up to your wedding day. And yes, you heard me right, I put many days of preparation into your big day, not to mention the weeks of post production in the weeks after the wedding. But I love it! That is why I am here, to offer the best service possible!

What if you are ill?

To date, I have never missed a wedding. However in the unlikely event that I am unable to be there on your big day for an unforeseen circumstance, be that due to illness or injury, I would do everything in my power to provide emergency cover.

I work with a high experienced and high quality network of professional wedding photographers across the UK and Europe, we often support each other in these types of situations. Of course there would be no additional charge and I would be editing all images taken in my unique style before delivering them to you, if one of my extensive network are able to cover the day.

03.

AFTER THE BIG DAY

HOW LONG UNTIL WE RECIEVE OUR WEDDING PHOTOS?

I know how excited you’ll be to see your photos after your wedding. I always make sure to edit 5-10 previews as soon a I can so that you’ve got something to share with friends and family straight away. Typically the bulk of your photographs will be ready within 4-6 weeks but during busier months it can be a little longer. Once the shots are fully edited, I’ll send you an online gallery for you to look through at home, and share with friends and family. You can access your secure gallery to select your favourites images and start building your album.

How many images do WE RECEIVE?

I don’t have a fixed number but typically a wedding gallery can be anything between 300 and 600 on average. The package selected also impacts the number of delivered images as of course, the longer I am at the wedding, the more I can shoot. Other variables include number of locations on the day, amount of guests, length of coverage, lighting, etc.

Can you airbrush our images?

As a general rule, I don’t do fake images.

I adore and celebrate the raw and imperfect world of reality, of real life!

So whilst I will do minor adjustments to images to take out the odd fire extinguisher or distracting sign, where possible; I won’t be reshaping your noise or changing your hair colour.

If you are looking for this level of service, I would advise you look for your photographer, as perhaps that’s not me on this occasion.

do you offer frames or wall art?

Absolutely!

Nothing can compete with the quality of a unique and exceptional handmade framed print on your livingroom or bedroom wall! Photos aren’t designed to be left in the cloud! Don’t you agree?

I have teamed up with a specialist frames factory, based in England, who offer not only the best quality I have ever seen, but a great range of options to suit all tastes too. They put quality at the forefront of everything!

All orders are made individually, by hand, with love, and by a craftsperson with years of experience. The most sustainable and highest quality materials are used, and it honestly shows in the final product. My frames stand out from the rest, we only use glass which can be recycled and which shows images the way they were designed, at their very best!

I’m so excited to share framed options with you! More info can be found on my dedicated site HERE

do you offer wedding albums?

Absolutely! I have spent years finding the highest quality suppliers, who take their responsibility to sustainability seriously. So I am proud to offer handmade luxury albums, produced by one of the finest suppliers in the world. These magnificent albums boast phenomenal picture quality across 20 lay-flat spreads, by default, with options to add more. The high-quality pages are 8″x8″ as standard, and come bound in a wide selection of covers which feel incredible to touch! Choose from 36 different colour finishes and 3 different materials; suede, velvet or linen. I don’t offer a leather option primarily as this is the most environmentally damaging material, and would significantly increase the price of my offers to you.

All album options can be upgraded for larger formats. All you need to know can be found HERE!

Do we get image usage rights?

Yes! You will have full personal usage rights to share and use your photos with friends and family as much as you like. I love nothing more than seeing you share your images on social media and showing the world your love (please do tag me @iankuglerphotography). They are your images of your wonderfully special day!

Sometimes clients ask if they can have their photos published online or in a national magazine. If you would like to do so, please speak to me first, and we can discuss image rights on a case by case basis. I reserve all rights to images I take, unless we have an additional contract in place to cover each publication run.

Can we share the images on social media?

Yes, absolutely!

I just love to get notifications of photos I’ve been tagged in and see your images being shared and posted by family, friends, and guests. It fills me with so much joy to see and I 100% support it! 🙂

Please do tag me and credit me in your posts / shares, as it really helps me share my work and allows me to help many more people in the future!

Can we have the raw files?

No, I’m afraid as a rule they’re not something I make avalible to clients. It’s quite standard in the photography industry but I’ll explain why briefly so you understand I’m not just being difficult! To begin with, simply to view them requires specialised software such as Photoshop or Lightroom, programmes which are expensive and so usually only owned by professional photographers. This means to the majority of my clients they are completely inaccessible.
